BIO

Philip Alexander (b. 2001, Ohio, USA) is a multidisciplinary artist raised in New York City and currently based in Milan, Italy. Working across painting, fashion, collage, drawing, digital art, poetry, and music, he is best known for combining text and imagery on large-scale canvases. His technical approach includes acrylic and ink on vinyl canvas, oil pastel on cotton canvas, and silkscreen ink manipulation on textiles. Alexander constructs chaotic compositions in contrasting color palettes, pairing varying degrees of abstraction and realism with physical texturing and collage elements to present confrontational narrative scenes.

Alexander’s work examines archetypal human behaviors and structural contradictions through a juxtaposition of historical narrative and contemporary observation. In the joint series Contemporary Myths & Modern Relics (2025–2026), created alongside artist Julio Alvarez, Alexander produced 18 two-meter canvases exploring classical themes of conflict, authority, and transformation—such as the generational tension between Kronos and Zeus—within a modern visual context. This thematic direction extended into a collaboration with Pignatelli Atelier for their FW 2026/27 collection. For this project, Alexander designed set frescoes on Italian-manufactured canvas using dark-toned oil pastels to evoke decaying royal palazzos, alongside executing original silkscreen graphic customizations directly onto four tailored garments.

Philip Alexander’s work is held in private collections across North America and Europe. His upcoming exhibition schedule includes a presentation of the Contemporary Myths & Modern Relics series alongside Julio Alvarez, as well as a gallery project at Pignatelli Gallery in Milan.
